We were seen quickly and sent on our way with scrips for antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection and pink eye. Hopefully he will feeling better soon. On the cab ride back to our hotel we stopped in front of the New York Times Building!
Today is another hot one, with air quality warnings, so Stella and I have decided to go to MoMA, then walk back down 5th avenue and find the Lego store, ending with a possible side trip to the New York Public Library. We have tickets for Book of Mormon tonight! Can't wait!
Stella and I grabbed a slice at Fat Sal's pizza, where I promptly dripped grease down my shirt. (Fat Sal's ended up being a poor choice...our tummies were not happy with us later in the day!)
We made it to the Subway station and caught the E train across town to 5th Avenue. We arrived at MoMA and spent the next three hours in heaven! The only dissappointment was Dali's Persistence of Memory was not on exhibit. I could have stared at Van Gogh's Starry Night for hours, and Stella admired the Picasso's. Every gallery we entered on the 5th floor contained a crowd pleaser!
In the front window is a full lego Rock Center display.
Funny, our Legoland is bigger, but this place was pretty awesome. Stella picked up a couple souvenirs!
A Lego Lady Liberty and an NYC Taxi! It took her less than a minute to assemble them, but they are pretty cute, and not available at our local Leg shop!
Back in the hotel, Randy was just stirring, and feeling a smidge better, he is ready for Book of Mormon and made reservations for us at The Palm at 10:00 pm!
We were part of the aftershow crowd at The Palm.
Wonderful food, Stella had the finest chopped steak burger the city has to offer! I wanted a lobster tail, but they only had 3,4,5 and 6 pound lobsters left at that time. Randy said if I had to ask market price for the lobster, we could not afford it! I had a small filet and it was wonderful, I had to have turf for dinner, but we got our surf in appetizers! Lobster bisque & shrimp cocktail.

Minimalism art was lost on Stella. She did not get it, nor did she want to.
There were some pieces that I have to agree with her.
Really?
Kandinsky, Rousseau, Klimt, Warhol, Matisse, Monet, Pollack, Mondrian, Kahlo, Cezanne, Seurat ...there was a traveling Claes Oldenburg exhibit that both Stella and I loved! We sorta loved "Floor Burger". A big, huge, leather hamburger.
Leaving MoMA we wandered down 5th Avenue and did not realize we were heading to Rockefeller Center, we were just looking for the Lego Store.
Flags and sculptures all around us and thousands of people...but we were on a mission!

The 5th Avenue Apple store was way uptown, and we were running out of time and energy in the heat. We walked up 49th and got to see NBC and Radio City.
We waited for the bus, since our feet would carry us no further. By happy happenstance, there was a Fosty Freeze Ice Cream truck next to the bus stop. How lucky for us! Back in the hotel, Randy was just stirring, and feeling a smidge better, he is ready for Book of Mormon and made reservations for us at The Palm at 10:00 pm!
We took a cab to the theater and were an hour early. Stella and I had seen quite a hullabaloo near the theater as we were returning earlier on the bus and I asked what it was all about, and apparently there is a lottery for a few show tickets for every performance. Nothing like a frenzied crowd in front of your theater a couple hours before the show to keep people talking! We decided to have a drink in a nearby place and landed at Da Marina. Randy cannot have alcohol on his meds, so we ordered a glass of wine, two sodas. The bartender suggested an appetizer of a single crab cake and it sounded good, since we would not be eating until after the show. We were presented a bill for $54! Turns out that little crab cake was $30 and I had an $18 glass of bad Lambrusco. My guess is the prices go down after show time!
Absolutely fantastic! Stella feigned a bit of shock in some parts. It was a tad more irreverent than even I knew, but I told her we were exposing her to culture! The seats are tight for large people who are six feet and taller! Poor Stella, the man in front of her (also over six feet) was almost convulsing the entire show he was laughing so hard. She might have bruised knee caps! Randy & I in front of the stage. We knew the was no recording of the performance, but we got busted for taking a picture of the stage! oops!

The faces on the wall are composed of famous people and those who belong to the 837 Club.
On our walk home we passed stacks of trash as high as your chest and 24 street maintenance crews. They have the same seasons we do, winter and road construction.
This guy is hard at work!
We are hoping Randy wakes up feeling heaps better, so he can join us for part of the daytime hours! Tomorrow night....Yankees Game!
